3/20/2024 0 Comments Logitech harmony 665 remoteHarmony is no longer made by Logitech, but they have committed to supporting it forever, so they are still relevant. We should start another thread to discuss, but I'd be happy to talk you through setting up a Harmony remote. We've always had optical out going back at least a decade and a half, along with analog out - taking away analog out now is just moving backwards against the best interests of the consumers. ![]() It's true we can't individually change what manufacturers do - but we are better off when consumers complain than just take it and say nothing (or, far worse, act like it's a "good" thing). Difficult to do that these days since manufacturers are dropping "analog out" to force people to buy soundbars (most of which suck versus simple 2.1 in my direct experience). ![]() For those spare bedroom system, I just plunk a T-amp on the back, and put small bookshelf speakers and a sub, and it operates with the TV volume control (it's basically adding in the audio that was lost). The sound is unusable on most of the new ultra-thin TV, even higher end large models. But in a spare bedroom, I just don't want complexity or multiple remotes or soundbars or an AV system. Much as I'm very, very critical of some of Yamaha's low-end receivers, I am very happy with the RX-a880 as a AV preamp (even for 2-channel music, though this system rarely gets used for that).Īs far as thin TV's go, I have serious audio and Harmony remotes on the TV's that get used a lot. I thought it was a Microsoft issue because, let's face it, it's always Microsoft, but haven't had that issue with the Yamaha I'm using as an AV preamp (and the PC is the source we use most with my son's iRacing rig). It just would randomly work sometimes and other times would not. The issue I had with the UMC was negotiating DD with the PC. I have seat shakers in one of the theaters - best bang for the buck immersion investment in my opinion (if you use Aura Pros - I do not like Buttkicker's shakers/amps) The Basx MC-1 might of been okay, but I don't think I'll be doing Atmos soon (logistics of rooms), so that too was kind of overkill. circuit board NLA) with the XMC-2 given the cost). These days I don't put a ton of money in the processor because they do become obsolete, so the XMC-2 would have been too much to invest for my preference (I'd also be upset if I later faced an unfixable situation (e.g. I'm guessing that was what turned out to be Basx MC-1, but I needed a replacement immediately since the UMC-200 wasn't functioning at all. Emotiva was offering an unspecified discount for my dead UMC-200 on the (soon to be but not specified replacement for the UMC-200), but there wasn't any information on what it would be or when it would arrive. If they had a newer version along the same lines, I probably would have gone for it. Hi Joe - I loved the UMC-200 - great performance, small footprint, quality construction, great aesthetics (rare these days in my opinion), immense value.
